Canalside apartments & offices
Large windows, open-plan rooms and managed entrances change the priorities of a repaint. Around Paddington Basin and Merchant Square, the finish inside the property and the route through the building need equal consideration.

Specify for the room as it is used
The canalside district contains both residential accommodation and offices. A letting-ready living space, an owner's home and a working meeting room need different briefs. Identify retained flooring, kitchen fronts, glazed partitions and equipment before setting out painted surfaces. Where daylight runs across a long wall, review the existing preparation and proposed sheen from several positions in the room.

Repainting between tenancies
For landlords and lettings agents, the useful starting point is the check-out condition and an agreed instruction from the person commissioning the work. Separate a complete room repaint from local remedial areas, and decide how furniture and belongings will be cleared. Arrange the decorating, cleaning, inventory and key handover in a sequence that leaves time to inspect the finish before the next occupation.
Bring building management into the plan
Ask for the property's contractor access rules before arranging deliveries. Depending on the building, lift protection, delivery slots, loading arrangements or a named contractor contact may be required. Confirm these locally rather than assuming the same procedure across the Basin. A postcode identifies the destination; it does not describe the service entrance or grant use of a communal route.
Office work without an improvised shutdown
For an occupied workplace, map the areas that can be released and the equipment that must remain operational. Meeting-room bookings, cleaning access and staff circulation belong in that discussion. Agree who can move or isolate equipment and how the room will be handed back. Any request for evening or weekend activity also needs to be checked against Westminster's working-hours requirements.

Keep external work under separate instruction
Painting inside an apartment does not automatically include balcony metalwork, external window finishes or the building façade. Identify any such request separately and obtain the necessary management and consent decisions. Where proposed access could affect the canal or towpath, the Canal & River Trust's requirements may also be relevant; that question concerns the access scheme, not every interior repaint beside water.
